The artwork "Das Universum ist ein Körper" 2008 is a profound exploration of the cosmos, merging astronomy, music, and visual art into a multisensory experience. At its core is a metal plate bearing the star map of a specific location and time coordinate. Each star on the map has been punched through, transforming the plate into a perforated disk that can be played on an antique music box. This innovative technique allows the starry sky to be heard as a musical composition, creating a sonification of the heavens.

As the perforated plate rotates on the music box, its mirrored surface reflects light from a spotlight onto the lid of the music box. The curvature of the surface focuses and directs the light, resulting in a rotating light drawing. This dynamic interplay between light, sound, and motion mimics the celestial dance of stars and planets, translating the abstract beauty of the universe into tangible, interactive art.

"Das Universum ist ein Körper" 2008 invites viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of astronomical phenomena and human creativity. It transforms scientific data into a poetic narrative, bridging the gap between empirical observation and artistic expression. The music box becomes a metaphorical telescope, offering a glimpse into the vastness of the cosmos through the lens of music and light.

Through this artwork, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and exploration, encouraging viewers to consider their place within the cosmic order. By intertwining astronomy with music and visual art, "Das Universum ist ein Körper" 2008 celebrates the harmony and complexity of the universe while inviting reflection on the mysteries that lie beyond our immediate perception.
