Ink and salt water on paper
The "Resonanz" series was created during my work on the major installation "Urandsico." In this series, I explore the resonance between physical spaces and shapes, as well as mental and emotional spaces. This exploration reflects my ongoing interest in the ways in which spaces—both tangible and intangible—can evoke a sense of connection and reflection.
In "Resonanz," I delve into the intersection of abstract expressionism and the evocative potential of materials, particularly ink and salt water. These paintings transcend traditional boundaries of form and interpretation, inviting viewers into a contemplative space where the subconscious meets visual expression.
Each piece in the "Resonanz" series begins with the fluid interaction of ink and salt water on canvas. I intentionally play with forms that resemble the Rorschach inkblot test—a psychological tool used to draw responses from the unconscious mind. The resulting abstract compositions, with their organic shapes and layered depths, resemble psychological landscapes, where emotions and thoughts merge, diverge, and reconfigure.
The use of salt water as a medium not only shapes the visual texture of the paintings but also serves as a metaphorical element. Salt, with its dual properties of preservation and dissolution, reflects the complexities of the human experience—memories that both endure and fade, emotions that linger and transform. This duality brings a sense of temporality and impermanence to each painting, prompting viewers to reflect on the fluid nature of perception and identity.
The abstract forms in "Resonanz" are intentionally ambiguous, leaving room for multiple interpretations and emotional responses. Much like a psychological test, these paintings encourage viewers to project their own narratives and meanings onto the canvas. Each viewer’s interaction with the artwork becomes a personal dialogue between their experiences and the universal themes embedded within the fluidity of ink and salt water.
Through "Resonanz," my goal is to create a visual language that transcends words and rational thought, speaking directly to the viewer’s subconscious and emotional core. The paintings serve as mirrors of the soul, capturing fleeting moments of resonance where internal worlds intersect with external forms. They offer an invitation to explore the depths of human consciousness, as well as the interconnectedness between individual and collective experiences.
Ultimately, "Resonanz" reflects my exploration of the space where the material and immaterial collide—where ink and salt water, memory and emotion, preservation and dissolution meet in a dance of endless possibilities. These works resonate as personal meditations, not just for myself as the artist, but for the viewer, whose interpretation and emotional response complete the dialogue.
