About

Anand Raj Jakob Schaible is an artist and yogi whose life and work are dedicated to exploring the deeper, often unseen, connections between the physical and the metaphysical. Originally from Germany, he began his journey by studying art at the University of the Arts in Berlin. However, his path soon led him beyond traditional art into the world of yogic teachings, where he discovered a profound understanding of the universe as a living, breathing body.

Now based in Oslo, Norway, Schaible is the founder of Northern Light Yoga Academy, where he combines his artistic and spiritual practices. His artistic approach is rooted in the belief that the universe itself is a body, constantly undergoing cycles of crystallization, dissolution, flow, and recrystallization. These cycles mirror the life processes we all experience, and it is this alchemical transformation that Schaible captures in his multi medial work.

Over the past several years, he has developed a unique method of painting with saltwater, allowing salt crystals to grow organically within the artwork. This method offers a momentary glimpse into a process that symbolizes life’s impermanence and continual transformation.

Anand Raj Jakob Schaible's work delves deeply into the origins of life and the fragility of existence, using salt as a central element in his artistic expression. Salt, for Schaible, is not merely a medium—it is an element of the ancient ocean, where all life began, and a basic component of our body and nervous system. This intrinsic connection to the primal forces of nature forms the foundation of his art.

Through his yogic understanding of life, Schaible sees the process of living as a crystallization of consciousness. His saltwater paintings embody this philosophy, challenging the traditional concepts of art. These works are, in essence, a paradox—they are carefully conceived and solid, yet at the same time, they remain fragile, always on the verge of dissolving. This impermanence speaks to the fleeting nature of life, questioning the value we place on art and the pricelessness of each moment.

By using salt, Schaible captures a moment of crystallization that reflects both the creation and dissolution inherent in the life process. His works invite contemplation not only on art’s materiality but on existence itself, encouraging viewers to reflect on what is truly enduring and what is transitory.

In Schaible's vision, salt is not just a medium but a living symbol of the Earth’s rhythms and our human connection to nature. He believes that the crystalline structure of salt holds the essence of time, change, and interconnectedness, all of which are central themes in his work. His art challenges the viewer to see beyond the material, to recognize that just as the universe is a body, so too are we part of its cosmic anatomy, interconnected with its cycles of creation and dissolution.

From his studio in the serene Norwegian countryside, Schaible’s creative process is both meditative and experimental. He blends scientific exploration with intuitive artistry, allowing his work to evolve organically. His installations and sculptures, often ethereal and philosophical, invite viewers to contemplate the mystery of existence and the invisible threads that bind us to the universe's body.

Internationally recognized for his work, Schaible has exhibited across Europe and beyond, where his pieces captivate audiences with their transcendental beauty and depth. His commitment to environmental sustainability further underscores his belief in art’s power to inspire positive change. For Schaible, art is not just a form of expression but a way of communicating the universe’s body language—a reminder of the fragile ecosystems we are all responsible for.

In both his art and his life, Schaible continues to push the boundaries of contemporary practice, offering a poetic exploration.
